One generation is finally gone!

This afternoon, we received a sad news.

The youngest brother of my late father has passed on this morning.

Later in the late afternoon, I told my mother that one generation of Tang/Tan family is finally gone now.

Oh dear, this feeling is really strange!

At the same time, I also heard myself saying that I want to live my life to the fullest from now on and I must be healthy to do that.

It is that simple!

Singapore Trip '08

I can't really remember when was the last time I went to Singapore for leisure purpose. The last time was probably 12 years ago. In between, I did go back there for business trips. Last trip was maybe 2 years back. This time, I decided to make a short visit there again because I got a free stay there, free MRT tickets and free dinners. Hahaha...
To me, Singapore is a place where I would get bored after staying there over a weekend. I feel no difference this time. I was running out of ideas of where to visit after two nights. Nothing much has changed here since my last visit, except for one or two new shopping malls and some new MRT exits (which made me lost my sense of direction for a few seconds) at some of the MRT stations which I frequently used last time. I always feel that Singapore lacks the element of surprise and its uniqueness as a country for a tourist like me, probably because of the excellent town planning there. You can always imagine what you are going to see before going to a place over there. Local food there is also the last thing which would impress me, except for the Hainan Chicken rice there. However, it is still feel good to make a visit there once in a long while to visit some old friends and to see how neat and clean the city is.
If the 'free' package is still available next January, I might consider making a visit again...hahaha...

St. Nicholas' Home Family Outing @ Bukit Merah

The Family Support Network of St. Nicholas' Home organized a day trip outing to Bukit Merah Laketown Water Park last Sunday.

The kids and the families have a lot of fun at the water park, although it was a hot day.

The outing ended with a birthday party at KFC restaurant at Juru Auto-City.

The rice dumpling 包不住的美味

一年里， 妈妈通常都会包两三次的粽子来拜拜，其中一次当然是端午节啦。

真希望每年都能够吃到妈妈的粽子。

因为，妈妈的粽子永远都是一级棒的！

My mother will normally make the rice dumpling for 2-3 times every year. The rice dumpling is always meant for ancestor worshipping.

I really wish my mother could continue to make the rice dumpling every year because that is the best rice dumpling I have eaten so far.

We had a fun 'date' there, although the weather was hot that day, but no complaint from Kitty.

Kitty is cheerful and energetic.

Calendar: AUGUST 2008

Last day in Santorini Island, I was in a bus on the way back to Fira town from Camari Beach and I saw this beautiful field which is full of daisy and also a few donkeys grazing on the field. Donkeys, daisy and BLUE sky are seem like a good combination of a photo to me. I told myself in the bus that I must come back to see the field. So, after arriving at the bus terminal, I walked for 5 minutes back to this field and this was what I saw when I was standing at the edge of the field.

盆踊り (Bon Odori Festival)

- Annual must-go (To me la...hehehe) event in Penang.

- Highlights are kids/ladies clad in yukata, dance performances by the dancers who flew in all the way from Tokyo and Okinawa on their own expenses, fireworks and, last but not least, food.

Yummy-ly cheap!

Heard of this yam rice quite a while ago.

Yesterday, I finally got the chance to try it during lunch.

My 'review'...It is cheap and yummy!

I bet you can't find something similar at the same price on Penang island.

Yam rice. The main target!

Sour fishballs soup with sliced pork.


Braised tau kua with eggs.

Yesterday dinner. Again, the dishes were cheap and yummy!. We ordered 4 dishes with steamed rice. On the left, home-made fried tau kua, Fried fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce at the center and prawn curry on the right. 1 more dish is normal stir-fried veggie. The bill came up to be only RM36.50. Cheap, isn't it?

Well, what is the best thing to do when you have no plan for the long weekend?
